n the basis of materials received from the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy on the illegal actions of employees of this institution, a criminal case was initiated in the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
In the course of the investigation, reasonable suspicions were established that the head of the department of the Main Territorial Tax Administration No. 6 Mirjavad Khashimov colluded with the senior state tax inspector Zakir Kazimov. In 2020-2021, they received bribes from a citizen in the amount of 20,000 manat for failure to comply with operational tax control measures in connection with the identified violations in the activities of the taxpayer.
M.Khashimov and Z.Kyazymov were charged as defendants under Articles 308.2 (abuse of official powers resulting in grave consequences), 311.3.1 (receiving a bribe by a group of persons by prior agreement) and 311.3.3 (receiving a bribe on a large scale) of the Criminal Code AR. In their respect, a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen by a court decision.
Investigative measures are ongoing to establish and bring to justice the entire circle of perpetrators through a full and comprehensive verification of the facts indicated in the criminal case.
