The Supreme Court softened the sentence of the former head of Yevlakh Region Executive Power

A cassation appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal against the former head of the Executive Power of Yevlakh region Goja Samedov was considered, oxu.az reports.

Under the chairmanship of the judge of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan Tahir Kazymov, it was decided to drop the charge under article 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Thus, the term of punishment for the former head of the Yevlakh district executive power was reduced to 5 years and 9 months in prison.

G. Samedov was detained in 2019 as a result of a special operation carried out by the State Security Service.

He was found guilty of abuse of office, repeated receipt of a large bribe and embezzlement, and was sentenced by the Sheki Grave Crimes Court to 7 years and 3 months in prison. Later, the Sheki Court of Appeal, taking into account the state of health of the accused, reduced the sentence to six years.
