The Prosecutor General’s Office has opened cases in connection with damage to nature amounting to more than 523 thousand manats

The Prosecutor General’s Office has opened criminal cases in connection with damage to nature in the Gazakh and Dashkesan regions in the amount of more than half a million manats, Report informs citing the Prosecutor General’s Office.

During the investigation, employees of the Department of Extra-Criminal Proceedings of the Prosecutor General’s Office established reasonable suspicions that officials of companies operating in the Gazakh and Dashkesan regions, having abused their powers, appropriated land plots without ownership rights, and were engaged in the illegal extraction of sand and gravel mixture. In general, damage to nature was caused in the amount of more than 523 thousand manats.

Based on the facts, criminal cases have been initiated under Articles 188.1 (violation of the right to own, use or lease land), 255.1 (violation of rules for the protection and use of subsoil) and 308.1 (abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.

The investigation will continue in the Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
