In connection with a citizen’s appeal about violations committed at the Goychay State College of Management and Technology, an investigation was conducted at the district prosecutor’s office, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

During the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that when checking the financial and economic activities of the college in the period from January 1, 2018 to December 1, 2023, officials unreasonably wrote off spare parts and fuel without repairing vehicles on the balance sheet, included in the reports acceptance of the cost of uncompleted repair and improvement work, as well as in other ways, embezzled funds in the amount of more than 88,000 manats.

Based on this fact, the district prosecutor’s office has opened a criminal case under Articles 179.2.3 and 179.2.4 (misappropriation or embezzlement by a person using his official position, causing significant damage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, and an investigation is underway.

A major fraud was committed against a resident of Baku, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is noted that thanks to the measures taken by the police officers, A. Alesgarov, O. Aliyev and T. Pashayev were detained, who in February-March of this year, through fraud, embezzled about 144,000 manats from a resident of Baku. The incident occurred in the Yasamal district of the capital. In addition, previously convicted N. Mirzaev, who fraudulently misappropriated 500 manats from a citizen, was detained, as well as N. Gurbanzade and F. Amirov, suspected of a similar crime. The latter took 900 manats from the victim.

All three incidents are under investigation.

The smuggling of a large batch of drugs into Azerbaijan has been prevented, APA reports, citing information disseminated by the press center of the State Border Service.

As a result of operational-search activities carried out in recent days, the smuggling of 53 kg 865 grams of drugs into Azerbaijan was stopped at the service areas of the Lankaran and Goytepe border detachments of the Border Troops.

A preliminary investigation into the criminal case of the former head of the Guba-Khachmaz regional education department, Rufat Hajiyev, who was arrested on charges of corruption, continues, oxu.az reports with reference to Qafqazinfo. The prosecutor appealed to the court with a request to extend the term of the chosen preventive measure. The Binagadi District Court granted the petition. According to the decision, the arrest period was extended by three months. After this, the former boss’s lawyer filed a petition to replace the preventive measure with house arrest. The court did not satisfy him.

R. Hajiyev was detained by the Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General. During the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that he had repeatedly received bribes from individuals for the extension of an employment contract, appointment to the position of school director, failure to conduct inspections in schools, as well as the provision of general patronage in the service. In total, R. Hajiyev received 53,000 manats.

In the Dashkesan region, more than 20,000 manats were embezzled, oxu.az reports with reference to the district prosecutor’s office. It is noted that, at the request of citizens, an investigation was carried out in connection with violations in the secondary school of the village of Bayan, Dashkesan region.

During the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose of misappropriation and embezzlement of funds in excess of 20,000 manats in the 2020/21 and 2023/24 academic years in the specified educational institution in connection with employees not attending work and payment of wages for hours of classes that were not actually held.

Based on this fact, the Dashkesan District Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation under Articles 179.2.2 (repeated misappropriation) and 308.1 (abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, and the investigation is ongoing.

In the Khazar district of Baku, two men were detained who, according to law enforcement officers, were involved in the theft of construction materials in one of the houses under construction in the district, Report informs citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Taleh Mirzaev (born 1993) and Ivan Kislyakov (born 1994) were detained by officers of the 1st police department of the Khazar district. They are suspected of stealing construction materials worth 125 thousand manats from the house where Kislyakov worked as a security guard.

An investigation into the matter is underway.
