Appellate complaint of Ruben Vardanyan has rejected

The appeal filed against the court ruling on the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention against the “Minister of State” of the separatist regime, Ruben Vardanyan, has been rejected. Report informs, Vardanyan’s lawyer Afet Gaziyeva asked to cancel the preventive measure in the form of arrest against her client.

The complaint was considered by the Baku Court of Appeal, chaired by Judge Habil Mammadov. The court rejected the complaint, considering the decision of the trial court to be justified.

It is noted that Vardanyan, who was detained on September 27, 2023 at the Lachin border checkpoint, was charged under articles 214-1 (financing terrorism), 279.3 (creation of armed formations or groups not provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as participation in their activities) and 318.1 (crossing the protected state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan without established documents or outside the state border checkpoint), a preventive measure was chosen against him in the form of detention.

In Baku, Kanan Aliyev, accused of drug trafficking, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, oxu.az reports. The verdict was announced at a trial chaired by Judge Ali Mammadov of the Baku Serious Crimes Court. The state prosecutor demanded that K. Aliyev be sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison.

K. Aliyev was detained in the Garadagh district of Baku in October last year. During the operation carried out by law enforcement agencies, 10 kg of heroin was discovered and confiscated from him. He was charged under articles 234.4.1, 234.4.3 (illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors on a large scale by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan .

An appeal has been filed against the sentence imposed on Seykhun Salakhov, accused of fraud, oxu.az reports. It will be considered under the chairmanship of Judge of the Baku Court of Appeal Javid Hussein.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 10, 2023.

The Baku Court of Serious Crimes sentenced S. Salakhov to imprisonment for a period of 10 years. According to the indictment, the man, taking advantage of the trust of individual citizens, committed fraud against them in the total amount of 1,200,000 manats.

The opening ceremony of the 8th International Conference on Medical Education is taking place in Baku. According to Report, the event, organized by the Ministry of Health, Azerbaijan Medical University and Pakistan’s Rif International University, is attended by specialists in the field of medical education from more than 20 countries.

The conference, which will last until October 10, will feature presentations by more than 30 well-known world experts. Best approaches and practices to medical education will also be reviewed.

It should be noted that the International Conference on Medical Education is being held in Azerbaijan for the first time. In previous years, the prestigious event was organized in the UAE, Mauritius, Turkey, Canada and Pakistan.

The III Film Festival of the Turkic World “Korkut Ata” is being held in the cities of Baku and Shusha on October 8-11, oxu.az reports. The event was organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, the Heydar Aliyev Center, the Cinema Agency, the media company Baku Media Center and the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY).

The purpose of the festival is to promote the unity of the Turkic world and cultural cooperation between Turkic peoples, promoting integration by creating a common audiovisual space with the participation of Turkic states.

The festival presents 32 feature, documentary and animated films produced by Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, as well as Gagauzia (Moldova), Tatarstan, Sakha-Yakutia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Chuvashia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Tuva and Bashkortostan (Russian Federation). The films will be shown at the Nizami Cinema Center from October 9 to 11, 2023.
