A man suspected of committing fraud amounting to 13,000 manat has been detained in Baku, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs. An unknown person called the man from an unknown number, introduced himself as a bank employee, and claimed to have problems with his bank card.

Believing the fraudster, the victim gave him his card details, after which 13,000 manat were debited from his account.

During operational search operations, officers from the 21st Precinct of the Nasimi District Police Department identified and detained the suspect, 38-year-old A. Zaliyev.

The investigation is ongoing.

Russia extradited two Azerbaijani citizens

In accordance with the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters of October 7, 2002, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation granted the request of the Azerbaijani supervisory authority to extradite Azerbaijani citizens Abdul Musayev and Rustam Huseynov, Oxu.Az reports, citing the Prosecutor General’s Office press service. Thus, in the criminal case against Musayev, the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is conducting a preliminary investigation, as well as in the preliminary investigation conducted by the Pirallahi District Prosecutor’s Office of Baku against Rustam Huseynov, grounds were found to suspect them of committing crimes under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Consequently, decisions were made to charge them and they were placed on the international wanted list.

Accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, they were delivered to Azerbaijan.

A regular court hearing was held in the criminal case of Anar Khaziyev, Rasim Aliyev, Shamsiya Ismayilova, and Ruslan Hasanov, accused of large-scale fraud against citizens under the guise of buying and selling houses, Oxu.Az reports. The victims testified at the trial, presided over by Judge Fakhri Mammadov of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

Each of the four defendants is charged under Article 178.3.2 (fraud causing large-scale damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The total damage caused to the citizens exceeds 240,000 manat.
