Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) planned to commit terrorist attacks on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, at the Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan, and against a leader of the Mountain Jewish community and an Ashkenazi Jewish synagogue, with the aim of sowing panic in society and damaging the country’s international image.
According to Report, information about the thwarting of these terrorist plans by the State Security Service of Azerbaijan (SSG) was disseminated in a report by AzTV.
The investigation revealed that Iranian citizens Rustamzada Behnam Sahibali and Zandkian Yaser Rahim had entered into a criminal relationship with Azerbaijani citizen Tarkhan Tarlan oglu Guliyev and organized the illegal transport of explosive devices into Azerbaijan. Seven kilograms and seven thirty grams of C-4 explosives were discovered in a container located near the village of Shikhov in the Sabail district.
The investigation also established that, on orders from individuals associated with the IRGC, two additional C-4 remote-controlled explosive devices were brought into the country and hidden in various locations. Additionally, another explosive device weighing 1,280 grams with a blast radius of 250-300 meters was discovered in the Garadagh district.
