The criminal case against Muslim Taghiyev, accused of fraud under the guise of buying and selling real estate, is being heard in court. According to Oxu.Az, the trial took place in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Hafiz Kamranov. The victim, Khayala Gamidova, was questioned during the hearing.
She said she taught mathematics for 13 years and now works for an advertising company that specializes in buying and selling real estate.
“When a house is put up for sale, we post information on websites. I’ve known the accused since 2023; I lived with him for a while. A close friend of mine wanted to buy a house and contacted us. That’s how our relationship began. I learned about him and was told he was involved in buying and selling real estate in the Ramana area. After that, I developed trust in him. He showed me houses for sale in the village of Ramana. He said he was buying land, then building houses and selling them. I first gave him 40,000 manat. He called the workers in front of me. There were no documents for the plots, so the money was intended for their registration. A month later, I gave him another 60,000 manat. In total, I suffered 100,000 manat in damages. Later, I realized he had been deceiving me the whole time, and a conflict arose between us. We have not reached a reconciliation, and I demand that all the money be returned,” the victim said.
The defendant, in turn, claimed that the victim’s testimony was untrue. According to him, he had already compensated 69,000 manat in damages.
The next court hearing is scheduled for June 18.
Muslim Tagiev was charged under Article 178.3.2 (large-scale fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
