Trial of person accused of treason begins

The trial of Bakhruz Samedov, accused of treason, has begun, APA reports. During the trial in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes chaired by Judge Elnur Nuriyev, the defendant’s personal data was clarified.

The defendant’s lawyer Zibeyda Sadigova petitioned the court to replace the preventive measure chosen for B. Samedov in the form of arrest with house arrest.

After deliberation, the court did not grant the lawyer’s petition and decided to transfer the criminal case to court.

The trial is scheduled for March 7, 2025. The court noted that subsequent trials in the case will be closed.

Bakhruz Samedov was detained in August last year during an operation carried out by the State Security Service (SGB). He was charged under Article 274 of the Criminal Code (treason).
