Former manager of Premium Bank branch accused of embezzling over 460 thousand manats

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has completed the investigation of the criminal case against former manager of Premium Bank branch Nazaket Mammadkhanova and senior cashier Samira Aliyeva, accused of embezzling a large sum of money from the bank. As reported by Oxu.Az, at the trial chaired by Judge Eldar Ismayilov, the state prosecutor made an indictment speech and petitioned to sentence N. Mammadkhanova to 9 years in prison, and S. Aliyeva to 7.

The investigation conducted by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General established that Nazaket Mammadkhanova, working as the manager of the 5th branch of Premium Bank, embezzled 461,170 manats from May 8 to 23 last year, taking advantage of her official position. She was assisted in this by the senior cashier of the branch, Samira Aliyeva.

According to 32 cash receipt orders, S. Aliyeva transferred 461,170 manat from N. Mamedkhanova’s account at the bank to her account on the binance.com website, where cryptocurrency is bought and sold online, purchasing cryptocurrency from different people using a mobile number used in the M10 software.

The accused were charged under Articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement or misappropriation committed on a large scale), 308.2 (abuse of office, resulting in grave consequences) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
