State Service on combating conscription evasion

The fight against conscription evasion continues in Azerbaijan, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The State Service for Mobilization and Conscription for Military Service (SSMCS) provided information on the investigation of corruption offenses and other negative phenomena starting from May 2023.
During this period, the Prosecutor General’s Office, together with the SSMCS and other state bodies, regularly and systematically took comprehensive measures to prevent violations of the law, ensure transparency and eradicate corruption during conscription for military service.
Thus, in the first quarter of 2025, during the investigations conducted by the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General, it was established that a total of 36 people were called up despite being unfit for military service, and 26 people were found unfit for service after a medical examination, despite being in good health. In addition, facts of evasion of military service by 12 people using various forged documents were revealed. Since the repeated medical examination of 26 people confirmed their suitability for military service according to the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, the materials collected on them were transferred to the State Service for the Prevention of Corruption of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan for consideration of the issue of conscription for military service.
During the specified period, one operational-search measure was carried out in connection with facts of violation of the requirements of the legislation in this area, as a result of which a criminal case was initiated and a preliminary investigation is being conducted.
