Persons who tried to smuggle drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan using a drone have been detained, Report informs citing the State Border Service (SBS).
It is noted that an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was spotted in the service area of the Lankaran border detachment, which dropped a small package and headed towards Iran.
As a result of the border search and operational activities, previously convicted residents of the Lankaran district Hasanov Anar Rasim oglu (born in 1988) and a resident of the Gubadli district Huseynov Razim Mehyaddin oglu (born in 1985), who was waiting for him in the car, were detained as suspects.
During interrogation, the detainees admitted that they arrived at the site to pick up 4 kg 504 g of marijuana dropped by a UAV. Investigative measures are ongoing.
