A Baku resident was sentenced for sending drugs by mail to his son-in-law in Istanbul (Turkey), hidden in a jar of fig jam and a box of tea, oxu.az reports. Thus, Baku resident Shamil B. (born in 1973), who previously spent almost 22 years in prison, was arrested for sending a dangerous parcel to his daughter N.B. and son-in-law M.B., who live in Istanbul.
Earlier, the accused’s daughter called her mother and asked her to send jam, sugar and her shoes, which she had left at home, from Baku to Istanbul. Along with these items, Shamil also sent his son-in-law, who had previously served a sentence with him in Correctional Facility No. 15, four packs of Winston cigarettes for personal use, 12 capsules of the potent substance Pregabalin hidden in fig jam wrapped in a transparent plastic bag, and dried marijuana hidden in a box of tea.
The court sentenced the accused to imprisonment for a term of 4 years and 6 months.
