Person accused of transferring data to Armenia sentenced to 15 years in prison

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has passed a sentence on the criminal case of Emin Gasimzade, accused of treason and other crimes against the constitutional order of Azerbaijan. As reported by Oxu.Az, at a hearing chaired by Judge Telman Huseynov, the court sentenced Gasimzade to 15 years in prison.

According to the case materials, the convicted person transferred information to Armenia that was detrimental to the sovereignty and state security of Azerbaijan, posted anti-state calls on social networks and incited ethnic hatred. In addition, he is accused of transferring photographs from the city of Shusha and other regions on the instructions of people who contacted him through social networks.

E. Gasimzade was prosecuted by the State Security Service under Articles 274 (high treason), 281.2 (public calls against the state) and 283.1 (incitement to national, racial or religious hatred) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
