The Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan has appealed to citizens in connection with the increasing number of cyber fraud cases with bank cards. As reported by Oxu.Az with reference to the Interior Ministry, criminals are inventing new tricks to get hold of your secret bank card data and steal money:
“They can call you, send you an SMS or a link, claiming that “our specialists have detected a cyber threat to your card, your funds are in danger, please provide your card data to protect your money.”
Scammers can even make video calls to gain your trust. By following their instructions and changing the language on your phone, you risk losing all the money from your card in an instant.
The Interior Ministry once again emphasizes: under no circumstances will a bank employee call a client and demand secret card codes, send links, SMS or emails for this purpose. Even if suspicious transactions or system failures occur, bank employees do not need to ask you for confidential card data.
A bank representative may only request the first or last four digits of the card number, the registered contact phone number, and the FIN code of your ID. Those who ask for the full card number, PIN, CVV, OTP codes, and other personal information, send SMS – these are scammers. Do not trust them, at the first suspicion, end the conversation. Let’s protect the security of your bank cards together! “
