Trial of major fraud case continues

The trial of Javanshir Rustamzade, Mehman Asadov and Novruz Gulami, accused of stealing large sums of money using hacker programs and other crimes, continues in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes. As reported by Oxu.Az, the hearing, chaired by Judge Elmin Rustamov, was devoted to hearing the testimonies of the victims.
The next court hearing will be held on May 21.
It is noted that in July last year, as a result of another operation carried out by employees of the Main Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Javanshir Rustamzade, Mehman Asadov and Novruz Gulami were detained, who stole money from bank cards using special programs.
The investigation showed that Mehman Asadov obtained citizens’ card data in various ways and then transferred large sums of money to accounts opened in the names of Javanshir Rustamzade and Novruz Gulami.
The group members are also accused of hacking into the databases of payment systems of citizens making online financial transactions over the Internet and obtaining their details.
According to the indictment, large sums of money were transferred from cards to accounts opened in the names of Javanshir Rustamzade and Novruz Gulami. The funds were withdrawn from various ATMs and distributed among the detainees.
