Director of Turkish company’s branch convicted of fraud

The trial of Arif Mansurov, director of the Azerbaijani branch of the Turkish construction company Akaray Grup İnşaat Ticarət İthalat və İhracat Limited, has ended in the Sumgait Court of Grave Crimes. He was accused of fraud on an especially large scale.

As reported by Oxu.Az, according to the court verdict, Mansurov was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years in prison.

According to the prosecution, the head of the branch committed fraud against two individuals for a total of 570,000 manats. It was established that Arif Mansurov, under the pretext of obtaining permission to build a residential building in the city of Sumgait, embezzled 400,000 manats from one entrepreneur. In addition, he promised a certain Mehdi that he would help resolve a civil case in the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan in his favor, and received 170,000 manat from him.
