Social media blackmailer sentenced to 5.5 years in prison for extorting money from women

The Sheki Court of Grave Crimes has completed the trial of Nahid Mirzayev (not his real name – ed.), who is accused of blackmailing women on social media and extorting money from them.
As reported by Oxu.Az, the defendant was sentenced at the trial. By the court’s decision, N. Mirzoyev was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison.
According to the charges, Nahid, a resident of the Sabirabad district, met women through Instagram and then asked them for money. Nahid threatened women who refused to give him money that he would post their photos on websites. In this way, he blackmailed three women and regularly received money from them.
As a result of operational investigative measures carried out on the basis of a complaint from one of the victims, Nahid was detained and a criminal case was opened against him.
