Former Director of Nizami branch of the State Insurance Agency arrested in court

The trial of former Director of the Nizami Branch of the State Insurance Agency Elmar Gasimov, accused of embezzlement on a large scale, has ended. As oxu.az reports, the verdict was read out in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes chaired by Judge Rasim Sadikhov.

According to the verdict, Elmar Gasimov, who was arrested in the courtroom, was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

During the investigation and trial, a preventive measure not related to detention was chosen against him.

According to the indictment, Elmar Gasimov abused his official powers and caused material damage to the State Insurance Agency in the amount of more than 200 thousand manats.

The injured party was recognized as the State Commercial Insurance Company “Azərsığorta”.
