An attempt to smuggle 118 kg of drugs across the border prevented

Employees of the Astara Customs Department thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of drugs across the border, hidden in an unusual way – inside a cargo of vegetables. As reported to Oxu.Az by the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan, at the Yug-Astara customs post, a vehicle was inspected that was in transit through the territory of our country from Iran to Russia and was carrying a cargo of broccoli and lettuce. When checked on a stationary X-ray machine, the cargo aroused suspicion.
During a thorough inspection, a service dog of the canine service responded to 32 boxes on one of the pallets. In these boxes, in 32 packages wrapped in foil, marijuana with a total weight of 118 kg 444 g, including packaging, was found.
An investigation is underway into this incident.
