Punishments for theft to be toughened in Azerbaijan

Punishments for theft, that is, the secret theft of someone else’s property, are being toughened in Azerbaijan, and the term of imprisonment for this act is being increased from 2 to 3 years. As reported by APA, this was reflected in the proposed amendment to the Criminal Code, which was submitted for discussion at today’s meeting of the Milli Majlis.
According to the bill, theft, that is, the secret theft of someone else’s property, is punishable by community service for a period of 360 to 480 hours, or correctional labor for up to 2 years, or restriction of freedom for up to 2 years, or imprisonment for up to 3 years.

After discussion, the bill was put to a vote and adopted in the first reading.
