Trial on the case of embezzlement of millions of manats in the Ministry of Defense

A trial was held on the appeal against the court verdict against the former head of the Financial and Budget Department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Major General Nizami Mammadov, the former head of the Air Force Financial Service, Colonel Jalal Kazimov, the head of the Financial Department of the Ground Forces Bayram Bayramov and the former head of the Financial Service of the Navy Vusal Alizade.

As reported by APA, at the hearing in the Baku Court of Appeal chaired by Judge Ibrahim Ibrahimli, the lawyer of the accused Vusal Alizade filed a motion.

The lawyer filed a motion to assign his client a more lenient punishment compared to the sanction of Article 62, since his client compensated 50 percent of the damage. The court did not grant the motion.

Then Nizami Mamedov’s lawyer Rashad Mirmehdizade spoke in defense of the appeal.

The next court hearing will be held on May 26.
