Amendments are being made to the Criminal Code on the issue of applying exemption from criminal liability due to sincere repentance. As Trend reports, this issue was reflected in the draft law on amendments to the Criminal Code, which was discussed today at the plenary session of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.
According to the current legislation, a person who has committed a crime for the first time that does not pose a great public danger, or a less serious crime, may be exempted from criminal liability if, due to a change in circumstances, it is established that the act committed or the person who committed it are not socially dangerous. According to the proposed amendment, exemption of a person from criminal liability in the manner provided above is possible only once.
The draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the first reading.
