The trial of Dunyamala Garayev, accused of embezzling large sums of money belonging to the Badamdar Estates company, has ended in Baku.
As Report informs, the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, chaired by Judge Novruz Kerimov, announced a verdict according to which Garayev was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
The investigation established that, while holding the position of the company’s chief treasurer, Garayev entered false information into official documents, committed official forgery, and did not transfer the issued funds to the hotel’s cash desk. As a result of these actions, he embezzled more than 163 thousand manats.
He was found guilty under Articles 179.3.2 (large-scale embezzlement), 308.1 (abuse of power) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Badamdar Estates, which operates a hotel business in the country, acted as the injured party in the case.
