Verdict against district hospital officials

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has completed the trial of officials of the Agsu Central District Hospital accused of embezzling citizens’ money under the pretext of establishing disability and restoring pensions.
As reported by Oxu.Az, the verdict was read out at the final trial chaired by Judge Elmin Rustamov. Former head of the medical institution’s department Arif Talibov and neurologist Etibar Soltiev were sentenced to 2 years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period.
It should be noted that the head of the hemodialysis department of the Central District Hospital A. Talibov, a nephrologist of the same department E. Soltiev and other persons, having entered into a preliminary conspiracy, in 2022-2023, through deception and abuse of trust, appropriated a total of more than 126,000 manats from various persons who turned to them for help in establishing disability and restoring suspended pensions.
As a result of investigative measures in the criminal case, compensation for damages in the amount of 120,000 manats was ensured.
The accused E. Soltiev and A. Talibov were charged under Article 178.3.2 (fraud causing significant damage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
