Former Chief of State mobilization service sentenced to 10 years in prison

The trial of the criminal case initiated by the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan against the former chief of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Mirza Jalilov has ended. As reported by Oxu.Az, the hearing was held in the Nakhchivan Military Court under the chairmanship of Judge Ilham Ibrahimov.

During the trial, it was established that M. Jalilov appropriated the rank of colonel, exceeding his official powers. The state prosecutor demanded that he be found guilty of abuse of office and bribery and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The defendant’s lawyer Vusal Hasanov asked to take into account the defendant’s situation at that time, mitigate the sentence and replace it with a suspended sentence in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his final statement, M. Jalilov stated that he acted on instructions and considered himself partially guilty, and also asked the court to impose a suspended sentence.

After the deliberation, the court announced the verdict. According to the verdict, M. Jalilov was sentenced to 10 years in prison to be served in a general regime colony.

M. Dzhalilov was arrested by the State Security Service and is charged under Articles 311.3.1, 311.3.2, 311.3.3, 32.5, 321.1 and 341.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
