Supreme Court issues ruling on former MP’s case

A court hearing was held on the cassation appeal against the verdict of former MP Nazim Beydemirli. As reported by Oxu.Az, the Supreme Court, chaired by Judge Shahin Yusifov, made a decision according to which the cassation appeal was not satisfied and the verdict of the lower court was upheld. Earlier, by the decision of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, Nazim Beydemirli was sentenced to 8 years in prison. The Baku Court of Appeal upheld the verdict.

Former MP N. Beydemirli was first charged under Article 182.2.4 (extortion by threats in order to obtain property in a significant amount), and then under Article 182.2.2 (extortion committed repeatedly) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
