The head of the municipality received a harsh sentence

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has completed the trial of the criminal case of Fikret Guliyev, who previously held the post of the chairman of the Yeni Surakhani Municipality. As reported by Oxu.Az, the verdict was announced at the final session chaired by Judge Novruz Kerimov.
The court sentenced F. Guliyev to nine years in prison.
During the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that during his tenure in this position, F. Guliyev received large sums of money from numerous individuals as bribes for the provision of land plots to citizens, for construction work and for other purposes, and also committed other illegal actions in the performance of official duties.
Based on the collected evidence, F. Guliyev was charged under Articles 311.3.2, 311.3.3 (receiving a bribe (passive bribery, committed repeatedly, on a large scale), 312-1 (illegal influence on the decision of an official (trading in authority) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. By a court decision, based on the petition of the investigator and the submission of the prosecutor who carried out procedural management of the preliminary investigation, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen for the accused.
