Azerbaijan will use all legal mechanisms to bring to justice those responsible for the murder of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg.
As reported by Report, this was stated by the head of the Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office Nemat Avazov at a press conference held on July 2 at the Prosecutor General’s Office on the fact of initiating a criminal case in connection with the murder of Azerbaijanis in Russia.
The head of the department emphasized that protecting the rights of Azerbaijani citizens is one of the foundations of the Constitution.
“Ensuring these rights is the highest goal of the state, and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan is committed to this. The Prosecutor General’s Office considers it its duty to investigate this criminal case,” Avazov noted.
Thus, on the morning of June 27, the Russian FSB raided the homes of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. During the raid, two people were killed and several others were injured. The killed Azerbaijanis are the brothers of the well-known journalist Seyfaddin Huseynli. They were buried on July 1 in Agjabedi.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement on June 28, demanding an investigation and prosecution of those responsible for this unacceptable act of violence. Later, the Russian ChargĂ© d’Affaires was summoned to the Foreign Ministry and a strong protest was expressed to him in connection with the incident.
