NGO employee accused of blackmailing his leader

An employee of a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Azerbaijan has been accused of blackmailing and slandering the chairman of his own organization. As reported by Oxu.Az, the chairman of the public association Yeniləşən Dövlətə Dəstək (Support for the Renewing State) Ilham Abbasov filed a private prosecution, claiming that he was blackmailed and slandered by Asim Aliyev, a member of the organization he leads.

According to the prosecution, Asim Aliyev also disseminated information that Ilham Abbasov allegedly forged the signatures of members of the organization.

The charges were proven during the trial, and the court issued a verdict.

The court found Aliyev guilty of slander and dissemination of false information regarding Abbasov. However, due to the expiration of the criminal liability period, he was not sentenced.
