The State Security Service detained a person who involved Azerbaijani citizens in cooperation with foreign intelligence services

The State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan has identified and detained a person who involved Azerbaijani citizens abroad in cooperation with foreign intelligence services and participated in organizing the arrests of those who refused to cooperate. As Report informs, this became known from the materials of the court hearing held on July 18, 2025.

As a result of anti-terrorist measures, it was established that the person who collaborated with foreign intelligence services under the pseudonym “Abu Malik” since September 2022 is a citizen of Azerbaijan, Aliyev Muhammad Shirin oglu.

M. Aliyev tried to form a terrorist and sabotage group around himself from individuals inclined to a radical religious direction abroad. He was detained as a result of an operation carried out by the State Security Service and handed over to the court in Azerbaijan.

In the criminal case currently being considered by the State Security Service, it is noted that M. Aliyev is accused under Article 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan; by decision of the Sabail District Court, a preventive measure in the form of arrest for 4 months was chosen against him.
