Border guards prevent attempt to smuggle 18 kg of drugs from Iran

The Azerbaijani Border Service prevented an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of narcotics across the state border, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the State Border Service. The incident occurred on July 20 on the service territory of the Lankaran border detachment.

During patrolling, border guards noticed an unknown person trying to cross the border from Iran in the direction of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The offender did not obey the border guards’ order to stop and, taking advantage of the darkness and wooded area, dropped the packages he had with him and managed to escape into Iranian territory.

As a result of the search and operational activities, marijuana with a total weight of 18 kg 100 g was found at the scene.
