International cooperation in the fight against crime continues successfully. A citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Janbolat Serikov (born in 1985), put on the international wanted list by the competent authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on charges of kidnapping, illegal deprivation of liberty, threat to kill, intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm and committing violent acts of a sexual nature, was found on the territory of Azerbaijan in January of this year, and at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AR), a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against him.
As Oxu.Az reports with reference to the press service of the supervisory agency, the petition for extradition from the competent authorities of the UAE was supported by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the AR in both the first and appellate and cassation instances.
In accordance with the current extradition treaty between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the UAE, according to the decision of the Baku Court of Serious Crimes, J. Serikov was handed over to the law enforcement agencies of the United Arab Emirates, accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of our country.
