Employees of the Lerik District Police Department conducted an operation to suppress illegal drug trafficking.
As informed by Report, 26-year-old Mukhammad Shikhaliyev and Natig Khalilov were detained during the operation. 20 kg of marijuana and 1990 methadone tablets were seized from them.
As part of the ongoing operation, other members of the drug network were also detained – 24-year-old Vurgun Gasymli, 30-year-old Rashid Agazade and 31-year-old Emin Akhmadov, who tried to escape along a secret path in a hard-to-reach area, abandoning their car. Marijuana was found in the vehicle they abandoned.
It was established that the detainees planned to deliver the drugs received from an Iranian citizen to Baku for subsequent sale.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact. The court decided to place all those detained under arrest as a preventive measure.
