Sentence passed on individuals accused of stealing a large sum of money

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has completed the trial of the criminal case of Alexey Babayev and Sergey Grinkevich, who were found guilty of stealing 316,000 manats and 32,000 dollars in cash from the depository room of clients of BTB Bank OJSC.

As reported by Oxu.Az, the verdict was announced at the final hearing chaired by Judge Mahira Kerimova. The court sentenced both to 12 years in prison.

The incident occurred in March 2025. Law enforcement agencies received information about the theft of 316,000 manats and 32,000 dollars from the depository room of BTB Bank OJSC. The suspects in the theft, Alexey Babayev and Sergey Grinkevich, were detained and brought to justice.

They were charged under Article 177.4 (theft committed with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
