Two brothers have been brought to criminal responsibility in Azerbaijan for fraud on an especially large scale, oxu.az reports. Brothers Kanan and Emil Nurullayev are accused of embezzling more than half a million manats from several people.
Some of the victims gave the brothers a total of 593,000 manats to organize metal trade, and some – to find employment in various institutions. After the promises were not fulfilled, they filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office.
As a result of the investigation conducted by the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General, a criminal case was opened against the Nurullayev brothers. They were finally charged under Article 178.4 (fraud committed on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
Considering that the accused have a permanent place of residence and partial compensation for damages, a preventive measure in the form of police supervision, rather than arrest, was chosen for them.
The preliminary investigation of the case has already been completed. If proven guilty of the charges brought against them, the brothers face up to 14 years in prison.
