Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan have stopped the activities of a criminal group engaged in illegal drug trafficking, Report informs citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As a result of operations conducted in the Binagadi district of Baku and in the Yardimli district, previously convicted persons Malik Rasulov, Shahin Huseynzade, Aykhan Rustamzade and Suraj Mammadli were detained. In their apartment and car, 18.5 kg of marijuana with impurities, as well as 1,435 tablets of the potent drug gabapentin, illegally imported into the country, were found.
According to the investigation, the detainees acted in coordination with an Iranian citizen, from whom they received drugs for further sale. They were supposed to place the prohibited substances at predetermined points.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact. By court order, all four were remanded in custody. Operational activities are ongoing.
