Former chief of defense ministry’s financial service accused of embezzling over 6 million manats

A hearing was held in the Baku Military Court under the chairmanship of Judge Bilal Mammadov on the criminal case against former Chief of the Defense Ministry’s Financial Service Namig Mirzoyev, who is accused of embezzling funds on an especially large scale, Report informs. The indictment was announced at the court.

According to the case materials, while holding the position of Chief of the Financial Service and other posts in military units subordinate to the Defense Ministry, Mirzoyev embezzled funds allocated to servicemen, as well as money directed to various needs of the units. In particular, he is accused of embezzling large sums in the military units of Goranboy and Kalbajar by entering false information in financial documents.

Earlier, he was a witness in the case brought against the former Chief of the Defense Ministry’s Financial and Budget Department, Major General Nizami Mammadov and other officials arrested for embezzling state funds.

Namig Mirzov was charged under Article 179.4 (embezzlement on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code.
