Employees of the Sabail District Police Department detained a previously convicted 31-year-old Elnur Mammadov during a special operation to combat drug trafficking, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan. Thus, 10 kg 45 g of marijuana were found in the detainee’s car.
E. Mammadov admitted that he purchased the drug through an Iranian citizen, whose identity is being established by the investigation, and planned to deliver the marijuana to various addresses for a monetary reward.
A criminal case has been opened on this fact under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. By the court’s decision, a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months was chosen for the detainee.
Operational search activities are ongoing to identify and bring to justice other members of the drug network, which included E. Mammadov.
