Over 44 kg of drugs seized in Baku, eight people detained

Police in Baku have seized over 44 kg of prohibited substances from illegal circulation, Report informs citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, officers of the Narimanov District Police Department and the 16th, 17th and 18th police stations of this district detained eight people suspected of drug trafficking as a result of a large-scale operation. 1 kg of heroin, about 2 kg of opium, 1 kg of methamphetamine, 25 methadone tablets and other potent drugs were found and seized from them.

The investigation established that the detainees received drugs through Iranian citizens and intended to distribute them in various areas of the capital.

In general, in July-August alone, the police identified 43 cases of drug trafficking in the Narimanov District. Since the beginning of the year, almost 79 kg of narcotic and psychotropic substances have been seized here.
