Fake businessman accused of serial fraud sentenced

51-year-old Elchin Goyushov (name and surname are conditional) accused of serial fraud has been sentenced, Oxu.Az reports. Thus, having given various promises to individuals, he appropriated a large sum of money belonging to them.

In the first episode, he deceived a certain Ramil, promising assistance in obtaining a building permit for a land plot in the Novkhani settlement. For this, he received 10,000 manats from him. The second victim, Selim, saw an advertisement for an LLC owned by Elchin on Instagram and contacted him about the construction of three A-frame houses in the city of Sheki. Elchin agreed, invited him to his office and took a total of 36,500 manats from him at different times. The third victim of the fraudster was a woman named Mehriban. She approached Elchin, wanting to build an attic on her two-story house. The accused took 49,700 manat from her for the attic and the permit for its construction.

Geyushov did not fulfill the order of any of his clients. The victims, realizing that they had been deceived, contacted law enforcement agencies. As a result, E.Geyushov was detained and charged under Articles 178.2.2 (fraud committed repeatedly) and 178.2.4 (causing significant damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the trial in the Nizami District Court, chaired by Judge Nariman Mehdiyev, Elchin Geyushov was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison.
