Employees of the Balaken district police department conducted a special operation against individuals engaged in the cultivation of drug-containing plants and the illegal storage of firearms and ammunition, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the Sheki regional group of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
As a result of the operational and investigative activities, a drug-containing plantation was discovered in a high-mountain forested area with difficult terrain. Previously convicted 62-year-old Seyfeddin Khamzatov and 47-year-old Zumrat Sakhrayev, suspected of growing cannabis, were identified and detained.
During the inspection of the territory, 179 cannabis bushes with a total weight of 72 kg, as well as a hunting rifle, bladed weapons and other material evidence were found and seized.
The detainees stated that they were growing cannabis for profit.
A criminal case has been opened on this fact, and the court has decided to impose a preventive measure in the form of arrest on the accused. Operational and investigative activities are ongoing.
