Former school director convicted of embezzling 45,000 manats from the budget

The Jalilabad District Court has completed its consideration of the criminal case against the former director of the secondary school in the village of Sarkhanly, Jamal Bashirov, accused of embezzlement, abuse of office and official forgery.
According to oxu.az, the verdict was read out at the court hearing chaired by Judge Elkhan Amiraliyev. According to the verdict, Jamal Bashirov was sentenced to 2 years and 9 months of restriction of freedom (electronic bracelet).
According to official information, the district prosecutor’s office investigated the criminal case on the illegal actions of Jamal Bashirov. Based on the collected evidence, it was established that the man embezzled and squandered more than 45,000 manats illegally, including in the payment of wages to employees who did not actually go to work and for hours of classes that were not held during his tenure in the specified position.
Jamal Bashirov was charged with embezzlement and misappropriation of funds using his official position and causing significant damage, abuse of office and official forgery under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The criminal case was sent to court for consideration on the merits.
