A virtual fraudster cleaned out bank cards via Instagram

A young man suspected of a series of fraudulent actions via social networks has been detained in Baku, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, employees of the 16th department of the Narimanov District Police Department detained 22-year-old Zaur Teymurkhanov, previously convicted, suspected of fraud on social networks and theft of funds from citizens’ bank cards.

During the investigation, it turned out that Teymurkhanov used a sophisticated fraud scheme. He collected personal information from Instagram users and then sent messages to their friends, luring them into giving him bank card details. Using the information received, the attacker transferred significant amounts of money to his accounts.

An investigation is currently underway into this incident. The police urge citizens who have suffered from the illegal actions of Zaur Teymurkhanov to contact law enforcement agencies.
