From 2019 to 2024, more than 39,000 people, including 510 foreigners, were prosecuted in Azerbaijan for drug-related crimes, Report informs, citing data from the State Program to Combat Illegal Drug Trafficking and Drug Addiction for 2025-2030.
During this period, nearly 48,000 cases of illegal drug trafficking were identified. 33.5 tons of drugs were seized, including 12.7 tons of heroin, 15 tons of marijuana, and over 2 tons of opium.
Among those prosecuted were 37,900 men and over 1,000 women. Based on court decisions, 14.4 tons of drugs and over 156,000 cannabis plants were destroyed.
