Convicted of embezzlement money

A man was convicted in Khachmaz for fraudulently embezzling money from an acquaintance, Oxu.Az reports. Sabir Aslanov, a 49-year-old resident of the city (name and surname are conditional – ed.), who worked as a broker, offered to “get” a diploma from Odlar Yurdu University for his son, who had returned from the army.

Aslanov claimed to have contacts at the university and promised to issue the diploma for 15,000 manat: 6,000 manat as an advance payment, and the remaining 9,000 manat upon receipt of the document. He promised to deliver the diploma within six months. However, the time passed, and the promise was never fulfilled. The broker constantly came up with new excuses and delayed fulfilling his obligations.

Finally, the victim contacted the police. Sabir Aslanov was detained during the investigation. A criminal case was opened.

The Khachmaz District Court found him guilty and sentenced him to two years and three months in prison.
