The petition for early release of the head of the online television channel “Channel 13” rejected

The court has considered the petition for early release of Aziz Orujev, the head of the online television channel “Channel 13,” who was sentenced to two years in prison. According to APA, the Sabail District Court rejected the petition.

Aziz Orujev was arrested on November 27 of last year. Initially, a criminal case was opened against him under Article 188.2 of the Criminal Code (unauthorized construction on a land plot without the right of ownership, use, or lease established by law). He was later additionally charged under Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code (smuggling committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). The criminal case under Article 206.3.2 was recently dismissed.
