The court ruled on a private prosecution against the former theater director

The Binagadi District Court ruled on a private prosecution against the former director of the Irevan State Azerbaijani Drama Theater, actor Iftikhar Piriyev. According to Oxu.Az, the court heard a complaint filed by Vafa Novruzova, an employee of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan.

The court found Piriyev guilty of the offense alleged in the lawsuit, but the case was dismissed due to the expiration of the criminal liability period.

Navruzova claimed that the former theater director insulted her on social media and demanded that he be held accountable under Articles 147 (defamation) and 148 (insult) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Several months ago, Piriyev was dismissed from his position as director of the Irevan State Azerbaijani Drama Theater.
