Azerbaijani border guards prevented the smuggling of approximately 510 kg of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan by sea, Oxu.Az reports, citing the State Border Service (SBS). It is noted that as a result of the operations carried out in the Caspian Sea, members of an organized criminal group were detained who were attempting to transport a particularly large consignment of narcotics from Iran to Azerbaijan.
As a result of search operations conducted along the route of the detained Liner-type vessel and at the scene, narcotics weighing a total of 509 kg 800 g were discovered and seized.
Four Azerbaijani citizens, who were in a Niva vehicle, were detained as suspects at the scene.
Investigative and operational activities are ongoing in conjunction with the Prosecutor General’s Office.
