Marijuana weighing over 105 kg found in a train car containing “tea”

As a result of comprehensive operational, investigative, and customs control measures conducted by officers of the Astara Customs Department, a large quantity of the narcotic marijuana was discovered and seized from illegal circulation.

A train car carrying “tea,” transiting through the Republic of Azerbaijan from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, was detained at the South Astara customs post at the Astara Railway customs checkpoint and subjected to a thorough inspection, 1news.az reports, citing the State Customs Committee.

During the inspection, 20 packages of the narcotic substance—marijuana—were discovered in the train car, hidden from customs control. The total weight, including the packaging, was approximately 105 kg 800 g.
